SUPER 8. MAN

SUPER 8. MAN

just back from my dad’s, The main highlight of the night was pulling out the old super 8 projector and stack loads of footage dating back to 1982 and even some before I was born. 15mins was spent trying to get the projector working, ones it started working it then ripped a reel in half and we spent several hours more trying to find out why it had stoped working all together . By the end of the night we had only seen 3 seconds of blurred, flickery footage but we still had fun trying to get a 20 year old projector going.

DYMS BUYS ME COMICS

DYMS BUYS ME COMICS

Luke Shirlaw’s and Lee Harnden’s exhibition, DL 92.95, turned out to be a very successful night (why wouldn’t it have been?!). Luke was overwhelmed with the massive turn out. I ran in to lots of people I know from uni I hadn’t seen in along time now that uni is finished. Also thanks to my efforts at editing the doco I used some of the money I got from it to pay off my AKIRA comics. I now have books four, five and six out of six.

DL 92.95 IS IN THE CAN!

DL 92.95 IS IN THE CAN!

After two weeks of edting, Luke Shirlaw’s and Lee Harnden’s Film for their exhibition is finally finished. Editing by myself under the guidelines of Lee, the video shows the two lads traveling around the world in their quest to seek out all things Graffiti. The doco also lightly touches on their inspirations as artists and their hopes for things to come. The video will be shown tomorrow night (7th feb 2003) at Umbrella Studio. So if you like pizza and Graffiti or know the boys come check it out.

LE FABULEUX DESTIN

LE FABULEUX DESTIN

I just rented out and watched Amelie on DVD and it was absolutely fantastic! I think the Movie show on SBS sums it up well with this line: “…Amelie is sheer delight, and will entrance everyone who sees it.” Not just stopping at one DVD I also rented Panic Room, Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis and Star Wars Episode 2.

KUBRICK ENVY

No I haven’t been kidnapped by a bunch of money hungry Russian drug lords (unfortunately), the only thing I’ve been held hostage by is university and assignments. However I have managed to fit in some time for Tom Clancys Ghost Recon: Desert Siege and my most resent addiction Hitman 2: Silent Assassin.

Metal Slug 3 is a run and gun video game for the Neo-Geo console/arcade platform created by SNK that was released in 2000 and is the direct sequel to Metal Slug 2. It is widely acclaimed by many fans (and my self) to be the best in the Metal Slug series to date.

AKIRA DVD

AKIRA DVD

I borrowed Akira Special edition DVD of a friend and I must say the new English dub is very nice and is very true to the original Japans voices track. For example names such as Akira and Kaneda are pronounced the same is they are in Japanese.

BLOOD THE LAST VAMPIRE

BLOOD THE LAST VAMPIRE

I rented Blood the Last Vampire on VHS and boy was it a big letdown. It’s a far assumption to say I wouldn’t have been as disappointment if I saw it on DVD but the video store only had it on VHS. However despite the poor pitcher quality of its presentation I could tell that the visual, from a design point of view, look very nice. This however I found could quickly and easily be over look.
