EXTENDED BOLUS
I wasn’t aware that on average an extended bolus for low GI foods should be around 3 hours. For as long as I can remember I’ve been given myself “rage bolus” due to high blood sugar. Only to be hit with some really powerful headaches, more high blood sugar and latter some crazy hypos.
This small adjustment seems so obvious now. But its affects have had positives affects. Free of the splitting headache from large bolus deliveries I’ve felt good about myself, something I’ve not really felt in a while.
I can’t explain how over overwhelmingly good it was to have a blood sugar of 6.5 before lunch and the same reading later that day. Not just ones but also several times consistently. I still have long ways to go. I still need to educate myself in foods different types and their glycemic index hopefully that’s just practice and time.
I found out about on open day the university is doing a trail for Psychoneuroimmunology in Type 1 Diabetes. I’ll have to check it out.
