SHOCKING THE SOLID SNAKE
Who’d ever guess that in my quest to find a computer game that relied more on story and gameplay then flashy graphics I would find myself playing and enjoying a console game. My dislike for consoles and the games on them is a whole other story in itself. However after seeing footage of Metal Gear Solid 2 in action I’d become very interested in the world of Metal Gear. So when I had the opportunity to “obtain” a copy of the Metal Gear solid I did’nt say no.
While Metal Gear Solid’s graphics are dated (but not too shabby) and parts of the game still display scenes of things leftover from it’s consoles days, MGS’s plot was captivating and deep and kept me interested to the very last second. MGS’s also had the longest ending in any game I’ve ever played! Just when I thought the game was coming to it’s end they somehow managed to find a way to spring more action, more plot, more questions and ever more in game cut scenes.
Maybe console games aren’t as bad as I thought. Maybe MGS was just one of them “one off games”. Either that or buying a game pad has somehow changed the way I think about and play games… if that’s essentially a good thing is yet to be seen.
