LE FABULEUX DESTIN

I just rented out and watched Amelie on DVD and it was absolutely fantastic! I think the Movie show on SBS sums it up well with this line: “…Amelie is sheer delight, and will entrance everyone who sees it.” Not just stopping at one DVD I also rented Panic Room, Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis and Star Wars Episode 2.

Metropolis, is not be mistaken for German version of the same name but is ithe Anime. Given Tezuka death the Film is not his direct work and is an adaption of one of his Mangas. Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis is largely inspired by German director Fritz Lang’s 1926 silent masterpiece of the same name. As a result, this Metropolis takes various elements of Lang’s and rearranges them in unexpected ways while building on Tezuka’s love of robots.

Through out the movie there is some heavy use of computer animated art work that personal seems to stand out like dog’s ball. I find this is mostly due to the fact a lot of 3d animation during the mid to the late 90’s in Japan was still greatly in its infancy. However despite all this Osamu Tezuka’s Metropolis is a fun and bold new look at classic in cinema history. both movies explore similar themes and are shaped by their time and origins.

Have you seen any of the movies talking about in this post? Why not have your say by posting a comment.
